Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Current Education Specialist Instruction credential (Deaf and Hard of Hearing) issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing
- Proficient instructional and conversational signing skills
- Commitment to working exclusively onsite with students in grades 6–8
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored instruction and academic support for deaf or hard of hearing students, modifying curriculum as needed
- Foster an inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages communication and active participation
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to promote student progress
- Monitor academic and social-emotional growth, preparing regular updates and student reports
- Implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and adapt strategies to best meet student needs
- Utilize sign language in classroom settings to enhance learning and engagement
