Desired Background and Qualifications:
- State certification or credential in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education (or eligibility for certification)
- Background in educational strategies for students with hearing impairments
- Experience with individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Comfortable utilizing assistive technology and alternative communication methods (ASL, Cued Speech, etc.)
- Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, parents, and multidisciplinary teams
- Strong communication and advocacy skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging instruction adapted to the needs of students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Assess student progress and adjust strategies to promote learning and independence
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs in collaboration with the education team and families
- Coordinate services and supports, including interpreting or amplification as needed
- Offer expertise and consultation to general education staff regarding accommodations and best practices
- Foster a supportive, positive classroom atmosphere where all students feel included and empowered
