Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in Oakland, CA

In this position, you'll travel between multiple school sites, primarily in the Richmond area, serving a diverse caseload as part of a dedicated team. The contract runs from August 11, 2026, through June 2, 2027, with a consistent weekday schedule of 35 hours per week, entirely onsite.
Requirements for Success:
- Valid California DHH (Deaf/Hard of Hearing) teaching credential
- Current CTC certification
- Experience in K–12 educational settings, preferably as an itinerant or consultative DHH teacher
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work alongside educators, families, and related service providers
- Ability to organize a districtwide caseload and adapt to varying student needs across ages and abilities
- Commitment to providing inclusive education and empowering students with hearing loss
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver consultative and direct services to students with hearing loss, per IEPs
- Support general education and special education staff in implementing best practices and accommodations for DHH students
- Monitor student progress and adjust strategies to maximize access and learning outcomes
- Maintain accurate records and participate in IEP meetings as an informed advocate
- Serve as a resource for families, staff, and administrators regarding auditory/communication needs
