Make a positive difference supporting students as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing! This engaging, contract opportunity offers a rewarding role working with early childhood through transitional age learners across an urban district, providing essential consultative services and support.

In this position, you'll travel between multiple school sites, primarily in the Richmond area, serving a diverse caseload as part of a dedicated team. The contract runs from August 11, 2026, through June 2, 2027, with a consistent weekday schedule of 35 hours per week, entirely onsite.

Requirements for Success:

  • Valid California DHH (Deaf/Hard of Hearing) teaching credential
  • Current CTC certification
  • Experience in K–12 educational settings, preferably as an itinerant or consultative DHH teacher
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work alongside educators, families, and related service providers
  • Ability to organize a districtwide caseload and adapt to varying student needs across ages and abilities
  • Commitment to providing inclusive education and empowering students with hearing loss

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver consultative and direct services to students with hearing loss, per IEPs
  • Support general education and special education staff in implementing best practices and accommodations for DHH students
  • Monitor student progress and adjust strategies to maximize access and learning outcomes
  • Maintain accurate records and participate in IEP meetings as an informed advocate
  • Serve as a resource for families, staff, and administrators regarding auditory/communication needs
