Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher - Oakland, California
Bring your expertise as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing to a contract opportunity serving students in an onsite, itinerant capacity across multiple school sites near Oakland, CA. This role is fully in-person and not open to virtual or VOCO formats, as you’ll step into a critical role providing direct, hands-on support to Deaf and Hard of Hearing students.
Key Details:
- Contract position beginning August 10, 2026, and ending June 4, 2026.
- Full-time schedule: 37.5 hours per week.
- Caseload will involve itinerant duties, engaging with various students across school sites.
- Seeking professionals who are organized, communicative, and ideally already familiar with the California schools environment.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid DHH (Deaf/Hard of Hearing) teaching certification/license in California (active and in good standing).
- Demonstrated experience or familiarity working within California’s public school systems is highly preferred.
- Skilled in collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, communicating with parents and colleagues, and adapting instruction for individual student needs.
Responsibilities:
- Provide in-person instruction and support to Deaf and Hard of Hearing students across several schools.
- Develop, implement, and monitor educational plans that address each student's unique needs.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and specialists to modify curriculum and ensure an inclusive learning environment.
- Serve as an advocate for students’ communication and access needs within each academic setting.
- Maintain accurate records, complete required documentation, and communicate consistently with all stakeholders.
