This is an onsite contract role, running from 8/13 through 6/11, and you’ll make an immediate and lasting impact helping students overcome communication barriers and reach their fullest potential.
Desired Qualifications:
- Education Specialist Instruction Credential in Deaf & Hard of Hearing, or a valid California Special Education Credential authorizing teaching of Deaf/Hard of Hearing students
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Experience working with K-12 Deaf or Hard of Hearing students preferred
- Current knowledge of assistive technologies, communication methodologies, and IEP process
- Strong collaboration skills for working with parents, staff, and other service providers
- Passion for inclusive education and student success
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction and support to Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in accordance with IEPs
- Adapt curriculum and teaching materials using visual and auditory strategies, ASL or other appropriate modalities
- Advocate for student participation and success in academic and social environments
- Consult with general education teachers to foster an inclusive classroom culture
- Monitor and document student progress, maintaining accurate records
- Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary teams to develop goals and assess needs
