Empower students as a skilled educator supporting Deaf and Hard of Hearing learners in an engaging K-12 school environment near San Jose, CA. This contract position begins August 13 and continues through June 11, offering a meaningful opportunity to make a lasting difference in students’ academic journeys. As the designated teacher, you’ll deliver dynamic, accessible instruction, foster communication, and advocate for inclusive practices in a collaborative onsite campus.

Qualifications:

  • Must hold an Education Specialist Instruction Credential in Deaf & Hard of Hearing or a valid California Special Education Credential authorizing teaching of deaf and hard of hearing students
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • Experience as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing, ideally in a school-based setting
  • In-depth understanding of various communication modes and assistive technology
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative spirit
  • Commitment to onsite instruction; not open to remote or hybrid formats

What You’ll Do:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Adapt curriculum materials and design instruction that supports language acquisition and content mastery
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, interpreters, and support staff to ensure full classroom participation
  • Serve as a resource to families, providing guidance and advocacy for student needs
  • Maintain accurate records and ongoing communication with all stakeholders
  • Promote a positive, inclusive learning environment where each student thrives
