Key Qualifications:
- Education Specialist Instruction Credential in Deaf & Hard of Hearing, OR a valid California Special Education Credential authorizing instruction for deaf and hard of hearing students
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing, preferably in a school setting
- Strong understanding of individualized education plans (IEPs), communication strategies, and relevant assistive technology
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills
- Commitment to onsite work; this assignment is not available for remote or hybrid arrangements
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, individually or in small groups, tailored to specific IEP goals
- Collaborate with general education staff, related service providers, and families to support student learning and inclusion
- Employ various communication modalities (e.g., ASL, spoken English, cued speech) according to student needs
- Develop lesson plans and adapt curriculum materials for accessibility
- Participate in IEP meetings, assessments, and ongoing progress monitoring
- Serve as a knowledgeable resource for faculty and caregivers regarding deaf education best practices
