Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher - Aurora, IL

We’re seeking a talented professional experienced as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing for a contract role spanning both elementary and junior high settings. You'll work in two neighboring schools, allowing for a seamless transition as you foster growth, inclusion, and learning for students at multiple grade levels.
You’ll support three students at the elementary school and two students at the adjacent junior high, collaborating with dedicated staff and families to provide an accessible, engaging educational experience. Your expertise will help students thrive academically and socially within a welcoming environment.
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Experience working in school settings with elementary and/or junior high students
- Strong knowledge of communication methods including ASL, total communication, and auditory-oral approaches
- Ability to develop and implement IEPs in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with students, colleagues, and families
- Adaptability and resourcefulness to meet diverse student needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to students with hearing loss at both an elementary and junior high campus
- Assess student skills and tailor instructional strategies accordingly
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and parents to promote student success
- Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages participation and growth
- Monitor progress and maintain accurate documentation in alignment with IEP goals
