Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher - Plainfield, IL

Your expertise will make an immediate difference for three Deaf/Hard of Hearing students at the elementary level and two students at the junior high. You’ll enjoy the chance to tailor instruction, collaborate with passionate faculty, and contribute to a positive, inclusive educational experience as you journey between the two schools each day.
Qualifications:
- Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a Deaf/Hard of Hearing endorsement required
- Previous experience teaching children who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing (DHH) preferred
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational abilities
- Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Knowledge of assistive technology and strategies for DHH learners
- ASL proficiency or willingness to improve ASL skills is highly valued
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to DHH students at both the elementary and junior high levels
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals in collaboration with educational teams and families
- Differentiate instruction based on student needs, ensuring access to curriculum and activities
- Advocate for student accommodations, modifications, and support services
- Work closely with classroom teachers, specialists, and support staff
