This unique opportunity allows you to work closely with a small, dedicated group of students: three at the elementary level and two at the junior high, with both schools located adjacent to each other. Your work will focus on delivering targeted instruction and support, truly making a difference in these students’ academic journeys.
Ideal candidates will possess:
- Professional certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing or eligibility for such certification
- Previous experience working with DHH students, preferably at both elementary and junior high levels
- Solid understanding of instructional strategies tailored to diverse communication needs, including ASL, auditory-oral, and total communication approaches
- Strong collaborative skills to consult with general education teachers, related service providers, and families
- A compassionate, adaptable approach to supporting students’ social, emotional, and academic growth
Role responsibilities include:
- Providing direct instruction to DHH students both individually and in small groups
- Developing and implementing IEP goals aligned with student needs
- Supporting and coaching classroom teachers to facilitate successful inclusion
- Monitoring student progress, adapting instructional methods as necessary
- Engaging in regular communication with families to foster learning and connection
