This contract opportunity involves working closely with small student groups at both an elementary and a junior high campus located conveniently adjacent to one another. What you'll bring:

  • Illinois certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing or eligibility to obtain it
  • Experience working with children or adolescents who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
  • Strong communication and advocacy skills for collaborative work with staff, students, and families
  • Passion for nurturing student growth in both mainstream and specialized environments
  • Flexibility in adapting teaching approaches to meet individual student needs
  • Commitment to fostering inclusive, positive classroom communities

Your responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction and accommodations to 3 students at the elementary level and 2 students at the junior high
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's abilities and goals
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to support integration and access
  • Use innovative and evidence-based teaching techniques to engage students
  • Maintain detailed records of student progress and communication with families
  • Participate in school meetings and contribute to a culture of inclusion and understanding
