This contract opportunity involves working closely with small student groups at both an elementary and a junior high campus located conveniently adjacent to one another. What you'll bring:
- Illinois certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing or eligibility to obtain it
- Experience working with children or adolescents who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Strong communication and advocacy skills for collaborative work with staff, students, and families
- Passion for nurturing student growth in both mainstream and specialized environments
- Flexibility in adapting teaching approaches to meet individual student needs
- Commitment to fostering inclusive, positive classroom communities
Your responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and accommodations to 3 students at the elementary level and 2 students at the junior high
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's abilities and goals
- Collaborate with general education teachers to support integration and access
- Use innovative and evidence-based teaching techniques to engage students
- Maintain detailed records of student progress and communication with families
- Participate in school meetings and contribute to a culture of inclusion and understanding
