In this dynamic position, you’ll work directly with a small caseload—3 students at the elementary level and 2 at the junior high—delivering tailored educational support to help every student thrive. You'll partner with school staff, families, and specialists to meet individualized education goals while fostering a positive, inclusive classroom atmosphere.
Key Qualifications:
- Illinois Professional Educator License with Deaf/Hard of Hearing endorsement
- Previous teaching experience with deaf or hard of hearing students preferred
- Strong ability to adapt teaching methods and materials to the needs of individual learners
- Solid communication and collaboration skills for effective teamwork with students, families, and faculty
- Commitment to promoting an accessible, inclusive educational environment
Role Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) focused on students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Provide direct instruction and embedded support in academic, social, and communication skills
- Utilize appropriate technology, resources, and accommodations for accessibility
- Coordinate and consult with general education teachers and support staff
- Maintain accurate records and participate in IEP meetings
- Encourage student independence, self-advocacy, and self-confidence
