Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (TDHH) | Oswego, Illinois

This fulfilling contract opportunity centers on providing specialized instruction and support to Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) students across two welcoming campuses—an elementary and a junior high school situated side by side. This teaching role is designed for professionals who are passionate about accessible learning and inclusive education. With three DHH students at the elementary level and two at the junior high, you’ll have the chance to build strong, supportive relationships while collaborating closely with caring staff.
Qualifications & Experience Sought:
- Valid teaching certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education
- Demonstrated experience working with DHH students in school settings
- Strong understanding of methods for differentiated instruction and IEP development
- Excellent communication and team collaboration skills
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) preferred
- Comfortable transitioning between two closely located school sites
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging instruction tailored to the diverse needs of DHH students in grades K-8
- Adapt curriculum materials and provide classroom accommodations
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs in partnership with families and colleagues
- Advocate for students’ access and inclusion within the school environment
- Serve as a resource for teachers and staff on DHH best practices
- Encourage self-advocacy and confidence in each student
