Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher - Oswego, Illinois

In this role, you'll divide your time between a local elementary school, where you will support three DHH students, and a junior high across the way, assisting two DHH students. You'll collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to implement individualized education programs (IEPs), advocate for accessible learning experiences, and foster a supportive atmosphere for student growth.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid teaching certification with endorsement or credential in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education (DHH)
- Experience working with elementary and/or junior high school children
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) preferred
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
- Ability to modify curriculum and adapt resources to meet students’ unique needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction to DHH students in both elementary and junior high settings
- Develop and implement IEPs tailored to each student
- Promote access to the standard curriculum and classroom participation
- Consult regularly with classroom teachers, support staff, and families
- Contribute to student evaluations, progress monitoring, and data collection
- Foster a culturally responsive, inclusive, and supportive educational environment
