This contract opportunity offers the chance to collaborate with a committed team, providing essential services as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing for both elementary and junior high students. You’ll split your time between two neighboring schools, empowering students from Churchill Elementary and Plank Junior High to thrive academically and socially.
Key Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid teaching certification with an endorsement in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education
- Proven experience working with DHH students in school settings
- Strong understanding of language development and auditory/oral skill-building techniques
- Proficiency with assistive technology, FM systems, and individualized education planning
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with teachers, families, and related service providers
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction and support to 3 students at Churchill Elementary and 2 students at Plank Junior High, adapting approaches to individual needs
- Implement and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), ensuring each student’s goals are met
- Partner with classroom teachers to develop accessible curriculum and facilitate inclusive educational experiences
- Provide recommendations for accommodations, modifications, and use of assistive listening devices
- Foster a positive learning environment that builds self-advocacy and communication skills among students
- Communicate regularly with families to share progress, strategies, and resources
