Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid teaching credential for Deaf/Hard of Hearing or eligibility for certification
- Background in developing and adapting lesson plans for students with varied hearing abilities
- Experience working with assistive technology and communication methods such as ASL, cued speech, or total communication
- Strong interpersonal skills to engage with students, staff, and families
- Ability to design individualized education plans (IEPs) and participate in IEP meetings
- Commitment to inclusive education and cultural competence within a diverse community
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver instruction tailored to the unique needs of Deaf/Hard of Hearing students, both individually and in group settings
- Support language development and academic achievement using specialized strategies and tools
- Consult with general education teachers and support staff to ensure accommodations and modifications are effective
- Monitor student progress, maintain records, and report outcomes to stakeholders
- Provide guidance to families on resources and strategies for student success
- Stay current with best practices in deaf education and participate in professional development
