You’ll utilize evidence-based instructional strategies to foster communication skills, language development, and academic achievement.
Key Qualifications:
- State teaching certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (or eligibility to obtain)
- Experience in educational settings with Deaf or Hard of Hearing students preferred
- Strong knowledge of assistive technology and auditory/oral and/or total communication approaches
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) highly desirable
- Passion for advocacy, differentiation, and supporting whole-child learning
- Collaborative approach with teachers, families, and therapists
Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging instruction tailored to Deaf/Hard of Hearing students’ needs
- Develop and implement effective Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Adapt curriculum materials and assessments for accessibility
- Provide direct and consultative support to classroom staff and families
- Monitor and document student progress, adjusting strategies as needed
- Participate in team meetings, professional development, and school activities
