Specific details regarding student populations, classroom structure, communication methods, and district expectations will be discussed during the interview process.

Compensation and Benefits
All opportunities are full-time positions with a minimum of 30 hours per week throughout the school year, which is approximately 36 weeks in duration. Compensation packages include a competitive hourly rate combined with tax-free travel stipends for eligible travelers. Weekly earnings typically range from $1,300 to $2,300 depending on assignment location, prior experience, educational background, and other qualifying factors.

Soliant Education also offers a comprehensive benefits package for contracted employees. Benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) retirement plan, and weekly pay. Recruiters will review compensation details and travel package eligibility during the screening process.

Responsibilities
Teachers for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing will provide specialized instructional support and accommodations aligned with each student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP). Responsibilities include developing and maintaining IEP documentation, collaborating with general education staff, interpreters, audiologists, speech-language pathologists, and related service providers, and implementing instructional strategies that promote communication access and academic success.

Additional duties may include supporting students who use American Sign Language (ASL), spoken language, assistive listening devices, cochlear implants, or other communication systems. Teachers may also monitor student progress, participate in meetings with families and school personnel, and maintain compliance with district and state education standards. Classroom assignments and caseload expectations will vary depending on the school district and grade level. Candidates are encouraged to discuss preferred settings and student populations with the recruiter after applying.

Requirements
Applicants must hold an active Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) license or certification in at least one U.S. state to be considered for these assignments. Candidates must also be eligible to obtain licensure in the state associated with the assignment location if they do not already possess it. Recruiters will assist qualified applicants with guidance regarding state licensing requirements during the hiring process.

Previous experience writing IEPs is required for all openings. Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing in school-based settings is strongly preferred. Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) may be required or preferred depending on the assignment. Strong communication skills, flexibility, and the ability to adapt to different school environments are essential for success in these roles.

Hiring Process
Qualified applicants will complete an initial phone screening with a Soliant Education recruiter before being submitted to partnering school districts for consideration. During this conversation, candidates can discuss location preferences, grade-level interests, and desired classroom environments. Interviews with school districts will follow based on availability and fit for the assignment.
